The beginning of a long conversation

I've been thinking a lot about what it means to be the church in today's society. Where denominations fit in, how services should be run, where the gifts of the Spirit (such as tongues and prophecy) belong, how pastoral staffs should look, how many big of an administration should a church have, ect... Anyways, it's where I am and there will definitely be much more and longer posts after New Year -- because I'll will have just finished hopefully two books on the Church as well as had some bomb conversations with Trevor and Solomon.

So for starters: denominations, your thoughts?

Denominations: Seems to me to be another way of having your personal preferences in church.

For nathan: I agree with how denominations look to non-christians, but one really appealing aspect of denominations are their ability to connect all around the world under one name. For example, all the Nazarene churches around the world are connected under the name Nazarene so resources and money can be moved quickly and efficiently. You know what i mean? Anyways, I just wonder if that really big benefit of connectivity out weights the costs. Or, do you think the church could stil do that without denominations?

I'm no good at expressing my opinions quickly or efficiently in a blog response, so I just look forward to the day where we have this conversation in person.

I will be thinking about the subject until then though.
